As a child who grew up with a profound hearing loss and a wild imagination, I loved to escape into books. There weren't deaf or hard-of-hearing kids in any of them. Did kids like me exist?
The representation of kids who are different has improved in kid-lit over the years, but not nearly enough.
Even though I've worked on both the editorial and marketing sides of publishing, I'm now doing what I love best: writing books for kids who are different. They are humorous, middle-grade and picture book stories with strong-willed protagonists who don't let anything hold them back.
When I’m not writing, I dance on roller skates, raise butterflies, make decorative candles, and eat chocolate. Way too much chocolate.
